Personal Experience & Biography

As a parent, finding the right support for your child or teen can feel overwhelming. Dr. Douglas understands that deeply and brings a warm, practical, and compassionate approach to every family she works with. She specializes in helping children and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and Selective Mutism. She also has a strong background in supporting military families through life’s unique transitions and challenges.

Dr. Douglas has been a valued member of Pinnacle Counseling and Testing Center since 2018, where she continues to support children, teens, and families with dedication and heart.

She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in Alhambra, California. She uses evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Seeking Safety to help young clients manage emotions, build confidence, and improve relationships.

Her experience goes beyond the therapy office. Dr. Douglas has worked in the Department of Defense school system as a School Psychologist and Guidance Counselor on a U.S. military base in Japan. There, she helped families navigate IEPs and 504 plans, conducted psychological testing, and collaborated with teachers to support students’ academic and emotional success. She also led parent workshops on key mental health topics.

Dr. Douglas later served as Program Director at a residential treatment center for adolescents facing anxiety, depression, and substance use. In that role, she worked closely with teens and their families to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and create healthier paths forward.

One of Dr. Douglas’s areas of expertise is Selective Mutism (SM), a highly treatable anxiety disorder. She leads Outside Voice, Pinnacle’s long-running Selective Mutism camp, and continues to help children, teens, and young adults find their voices through both individual and group therapy.

Dr. Douglas sees clients in person at our St. Charles, Missouri office. She is also licensed to provide virtual and in-person services throughout the state of Missouri, as well as in California. She is also certified to provide virtual and short-term in-person services across all PSYPACT states.

Dr. Douglas is an active member of the Selective Mutism Association and Psychology Today.
