OUR COUNSELING PHILOSOPHY
At Pinnacle Counseling and Testing Center, our goal isn’t to keep you in therapy for as long as possible; it’s to give you the tools and support that you need to be successful so that you can get back to living your best life. We have a “counseling first” philosophy here, and prefer that medications from a psychiatrist be an adjunct to therapy instead of a replacement, and avoided if possible.

INSURANCE
Pinnacle Counseling and Testing Center does not accept insurance directly and is considered an out-of-network provider* (non-network for TriCare). Payment for each session will be collected at the time of service. You will then be provided with a Superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Since all PPO plans have their own coverage rates, we recommend you call your insurance company directly and ask about their policy on out-of-network benefits for behavioral health care.
*Please understand that our policy on insurance is in place for our clients’ benefit. Insurance companies often place requirements on psychological services which could have a negative impact on a patient’s personal life. For example, many require that a psychological diagnosis be entered into a person’s medical record which could impact future employment opportunities.
Working directly with insurance companies also increases the potential for violations of HIPAA as insurance companies request specifics on the type of care that is being provided. Therapy requires a safe space and trust between the patient and practitioner, even an accidental breach of a patient’s confidentiality through an honest mistake could create a loss of trust in our practice which could impact progress.
The final reason we don’t work directly with insurers is to eliminate the possibility of the insurer placing limits on the number or types of sessions they will cover. People are unique, and so are the issues they are addressing. Our priority is to provide the best care we can for our patients, allowing the boundaries of an insurance policy to dictate the treatment they receive would undermine that effort.
